SYNOPSIS – The New Testament applies the plans of the rulers of the nations to destroy the Son to the conspiracy to slay Jesus – Psalm 2:1-6.
The second Psalm is a key messianic prophecy applied frequently and consistently to Jesus by the New Testament. But according to its authors, precisely when did he fulfill the predictions from the Psalm? Has the Messiah been installed already on the throne of David or is this prediction still waiting for a future fulfillment? What about the “rage” of the nations against Yahweh’s “anointed one”? Is it a prediction about a yet future assault against Jesus or his people?

Because of his “faithful witness,” Jesus reigns supreme over the kings of the earth and even over his vilest enemies.
At the start of Revelation, Jesus is designated the “ruler over the kings of the earth,” and in the present tense. SYNOPSIS – The application of Psalm 110:1 to Christ’s present reign by the New Testament – He already possesses all authority in heaven and on the earth – Matthew 28:18.

The New Testament links the enthronement of Jesus to his death and resurrection, using key messianic texts from the Hebrew Bible. He achieved the authority to rule because of his faithful obedience unto death. God vindicated His Son by raising him from the dead and seating him “at His right hand,” where he now reigns supreme over all things.

SYNOPSIS: Jesus received all authority to reign over the Cosmos after his death and resurrection. He has reigned on God’s Throne ever since – Psalm 2:6-9.
Some interpretations of Bible prophecy claim that Jesus will not ascend to the throne of David until his return in glory when he inaugurates his kingdom and sets up his government in the city of Jerusalem. Only then will he commence his rule over the nations of the earth. Whatever authority he has now while in “heaven,” his full messianic reign will not begin until after his return in power (compare – Revelation 20:1-10).
