SYNOPSIS – The outpouring of the promised Spirit on the Day of Pentecost signaled the arrival of the “last days” – Joel 2:28

The application of the prophecy from Joel by the book of Acts links the gift of the Spirit inextricably to the onset of the “last days” – The period labeled by Scripture as the “last days” began after the ascension of Jesus and the outpouring of the gift of the Spirit on a gathering of his fledgling church. In the second chapter of Acts, Peter declares that the arrival of the Spirit on that very day is in fulfillment of Joel’s prophecy about the coming “day of Yahweh” – (Joel 2:28-32).


Fulfillment of the Feast of Pentecost

The famous opening passage of the second chapter of the Book of Acts stresses the fulfillment of things foreshadowed in the Hebrew scriptures that occurred when the gift of the Spirit was poured out on the Day of Pentecost.
