FIRST CORINTHIANS
The Day of Christ – (Jesus will arrive on the Day of the Lord when the dead are raised, the wicked are judged, and death will cease forevermore)
The Revelation of Our Lord – (At the revelation of Jesus, the saints will experience glory, but the wicked receive everlasting destruction)
God’s Power & Wisdom – (The power and wisdom of God are revealed in the proclamation of a Messiah who was crucified on Calvary)
The Spiritual Man – (The spiritually-minded man understands that the gospel of Christ Crucified is God’s true power and wisdom – 1 Corinthians 2:14)
Ekklésia – The Assembly – (The use of the term “church” or ekklésia is derived from the “assembly of Yahweh” gathered before the Tabernacle)
The Sanctuary of God – (The Tabernacle and Temple foreshadowed the greater reality when God would indwell His people. And wherever the church is gathered for worship, the Spirit of God is present)
The Ends of the Ages – (In several ways, Paul coordinates the commencement of the last days with the Death and Resurrection of Jesus)
His One Return – (The coming of Jesus will mark the end of the present order and the commencement of the age to come)
The Death of Death – (The arrival of Jesus at the end of the age will mean the termination of the Last Enemy – Death)
Final Events – (In explaining the future resurrection, Paul lists the key events that will precede or coincide with the arrival of Jesus at the end of the age)
Redemption or Abandonment? – (At the heart of the salvation provided by Jesus are the resurrection and new creation at Christ’s arrival in glory)
Then Comes the End – (The arrival of Jesus “on the clouds” will be an event of great victory and finality that will result in the resurrection and the New Creation)
