Christ’s Victory and Reign

Did Jesus triumph through his Death and Resurrection, or is he still waiting for some future event for his reign to begin?

Was Jesus victorious over God’s enemies on the Cross, and did he begin to rule as the Davidic King following his Death and Resurrection? Most Christians would answer, “Well, yes! Of course!” Nevertheless, many popular interpretations effectively if not openly deny this present reality when they claim his reign over the Earth will not commence until his return in glory or some other future date or event.

The Only Source

ONLY Jesus of Nazareth is the Light of the World, the expression of God, and the source of truth, life, and salvation.

From time immemorial, presidents, kings, dictators, political ideologies, religions, and false prophets have claimed to be humanity’s best hope for peace and prosperity, self-appointed sources of light, and alleged bulwarks of order against the darkness that constantly threatens to overwhelm society. Jerusalem and the Cross

Jesus explained that he was going to Jerusalem where the Son of Man would be arrested, tried, and executed – Mark 10:32-34.

Jesus is “on the way” to Jerusalem and the Cross in the Gospel of Mark. This theme occurs several times, beginning with John the Baptist who was sent to “prepare the way before the Lord.” The Nazarene would complete his messianic mission as the ‘Suffering Servant’ portrayed in the Book of Isaiah when he was tried by the priestly leaders of the Temple and executed outside the walls of the City of David at the hands of Rome, the World Empire.

Jesus is the Lamb

The Slain Lamb is the Messiah in Revelation who overcomes and reigns over the Nations and the Kings of the Earth.

In popular preaching, Jesus has become the “Roaring Lion of Judah” who will soon unleash his predatory cry as he slays his enemies. Unlike the man from Nazareth, this warrior-king will destroy everyone who resists him as he imposes his kingdom on the willing and the unwilling. No longer is he the savior who submitted to an unjust death to save the world. Does not the Book of Revelation tell us that he is the Messianic Lion?
